Welcome to 2024! A New Year and a time for liquor to be released. Here’s some of my favorite releases of January so far.
Old Forester 1924 – 10 Year
Part of the Whiskey Row series, this release commemorates the 100th anniversary of a unique moment in the brand’s history during Prohibition. It features a new mash bill and a 10-year age statement. The taste profile includes notes of fudge, cocoa, marzipan, cured tobacco, rich oak, warm cinnamon, chocolate-covered graham cracker, and a hint of spice. Available nationwide for $115
Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Single Batch Series Batch 036: Herbal Infused:
This bourbon liqueur blends the brand’s Tennessee high-malt bourbon with 14 different botanicals, aged for a year in bourbon barrels and blended with dark Candi syrup. It’s available at the Experimental Distillery in Chattanooga, TN, and online for $49.99.
Glenmorangie Calvados Cask Finish
This 12-year-old single malt is the first from Glenmorangie to be finished in French Calvados casks, offering a fruity and floral character with scents of baked pears, vanilla, jasmine, and tastes of toffee apples, lemon balsam, and spice. It’s part of the Barrel Select series and is available exclusively in the UK.
Don Julio Alma Miel
A joven tequila made with a blend of blanco tequila distilled with oven-roasted agave honey and añejo tequila aged for at least 14 months and finished in Crémant du Limoux wine casks. This permanent addition to the portfolio is launching in select markets with a nationwide expansion to follow.
Expresiones del Corazón 2023 Collection
The Expresiones del Corazón 2023 Collection from Corazón Tequila introduced two new tequilas, the Weller 12 Añejo and French Oak Añejo. These tequilas are unique for their aging process in ex-whiskey barrels, offering distinct flavor profiles like cooked agave, toasted vanilla, and hints of apple and caramel.
